Here is a before and after photo of myself using the "Snapseed" iPhone/iPad app. With one click and one in-app filter called "grunge", I have a mystified the photo. This app is a personal favorite for general use in the photo apps category. It is pretty amazing what a filter can do for a face and its surroundings.
This photo was taken and manipulated 71 weeks ago according to my Instagram feed. Snapseed was bought out by Google shortly after that initial posting. Those big guys can't keep their paws off of the little guys hard work, right? Then again, for a few million bucks I would sign over my app and both of my kidneys to Google. Why do I share this post? I get asked A LOT about what I use or do to my photos and avatars. Well, it is really pretty simple. Everything I do, from taking the photo to the finished manipulated product, is done on my iPhone using filters, filters, filters! Originally, long ago, I paid for this app, but now it is free with "in-app purchases" for filters packs. You can get Snapseed here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/snapseed/id439438619?mt=8 "BENEFITS: • Easily adjust your photos with a single tap using Auto Correct • Tweak your photo to perfection with Tune Image • Use Selective Adjust to enhance specific objects or areas in your photos • Experiment with fun & innovative filters like Retrolux, Drama, Vintage, Grunge, and Tilt-Shift • Add one of the many high quality frames for a finishing touch • Share your creations via email, Google+, and other built-in sharing methods SUPPORTS: • 6.25 MP images for iPad, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch (3rd & 4th Gen), 16 MP images for iPad 2 and iPhone 4, 4S, 20.25 MP images for iPad 3rd Gen and iPhone 5 (larger images will be automatically down sampled by iOS) • JPEG and TIFF photos • RAW photos (requires iPad, iPad2, or iPad 3rd Gen) transferred using the Camera Connector Kit (if files show up as a small thumbnail, go to Settings > Location Services and turn this setting to On for Snapseed. This is required to allow Snapseed to use the iOS RAW processing) • Language support: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), and Arabic" On a side note, I am still working on moving my 100s of posts to this new location. Time is a rare luxury for me these days, and so is functional wifi or 3G/4G/LTE. I do have numerous posts about other photo apps that are going to be moved here soon enough. I know what is good, bad and what crashes your phone and crunches your photos! Get Snapseed for iPhone and iPad! Until then, LL&P! It's Sunday! What a crazy week! I returned from Moore, OK to take care of some business. Soon after I had to make a trip to St. Louis. It was going to be a day trip, a very long day into night trip, but I had to stay the night. I returned from St. Louis Friday and a tornado hit across the street from where my hotel was. I missed it by a mere few hours and there was no sign of that weather coming! When I got home, I arrived to tornado watches, flash floods and areal flooding at my own house. Today I will be tearing out my front bedroom carpet, which I use for storage, and my living room carpet. It was minor damage. It came up from under the house. It included sewer and dirt brown water. Hazardous? Slightly. Luckily the kitchen and other two bedrooms were a new addition with concrete and there was no overflow. While I had my own issues, Oklahoma was hit by several tornadoes again. If that weren't bad enough, some crossed Moore--again! And to top off the tornado damage, buildings that weren't damaged took heavy flooding in. It's a whole new situation and mess when I arrive back. I leave tomorrow afternoon. I may wait until early Tuesday to make sure my house is prepped for a month long dry out and away mission. Good news? Of course! I started updating this blog with my older posts finally. Also, I have photos of my porch baby birds and animals below. Tomorrow I will be giving you a very direct list of what, where and how to donate to Oklahoma and St. Louis tornado and flood victims. I'll need to verify listings first thing tomorrow so you don't waste time shipping or donating where it isn't needed. I'm heading home Monday morning! This will be a temporary stop. I will return to Oklahoma around the 1st of June and I will be staying for about a month. I'm excited to shower, sleep in my own bed and most importantly, change my clothes! Allow me to explain. Lately, when these disasters strike, I tend to throw whatever is cleanest into a bag and take off. This time, I ended up with 3 socks, 4 tees, 1 pj bottom and 1 pair of sneakers. No work boots, no jeans, no scrubs, no sweats, no coats, no undies, no volunteer medical vest, not even a hairbrush. I've been in the thick of it right along with the amazing survivors of Moore, OK.....without underwear on.
I used to keep a HUGE bag in my trunk full of everything I would need to stay anywhere, at anytime, including tent, folding chairs, cot, clothing, soaps and anything anyone would need to live homeless and electrical free for 3-4 weeks, water and MREs included. I told you it was a huge bag! So what happened this time? Sometime after I helped Search and Rescue with the Joplin tornado (2011) I removed it to wash everything and never put it back together. This is priority when I get home, right after a shower and a good dose of Star Trek! Bang. Head. On. Giant. Wall. Anyway, I will have a lot of photos, stories and video to share, including 2 very important messages: don't wait until disaster strikes to volunteer and be prepared with essentials at all times for wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards and everything else Mother Nature throws at us. I will give you a general list to keep in a backpack. You can keep it in your car or within close reach at all times. I would have posted more this time as I usually do but I switched to Sprint from AT&T and I was running on 2 bars of very shabby and clustered 3G. I will update soon, my friends! And to everyone on Twitter posting about Comic Cons, THANK YOU. It is a ray of light for my inner and very outer geek. If you want to donate or volunteer to help the people of Moore, go to http://www.moore.recovers.org
You can head to Shawnee. The Family of Faith needs volunteers to help clean up debris and make repairs. Please call 405-273-5331 before you head over. You can go to the First Baptist Church of Moore starting at 8 a.m. this weekend. Bring gloves and be ready to help load and unload donations. You can also go to Life Church in South Oklahoma City at 10 a.m. this weekend. Or you can go to Saint Andrews Methodist Church. You'll be working to help sort and deliver donations. Medical volunteers are also needed. If you can help, register with the 'Oklahoma Medical Reserve Corp' at OKMRC.org. The 'Music for Moore' benefit concert is scheduled for May 29, at the Bricktown events center. J.D. McPherson, Graham Colton, Colourmusic, Evangelicals, and Taddy Porter are set to perform. Tickets are 25-dollars. All proceeds will go to the Oklahoma Red Cross. Another benefit coming up this weekend. Several local bands will be playing Saturday at the "Speakeasy" near Northwest 51st Street and Western Avenue. All proceeds from the concert will go to the red cross. Desmond Mason is teaming up with local chefs for a pop-up restaurant this holiday weekend. It'll be located at the Myriad Botanical Gardens. A $35 donation is requested for a three-course meal. All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross. (KOCO) Please scroll to the bottom of the page for the newest additions being added frequently. BULK SHOPPING AND FREE POWER: CHARGING STATIONS: As you all know, I'm a Star Trek fan first and everything else second. Who got early tickets? I read the UK IMAX ticket site crashed. It's very reminicent of San Diego Comic Con ticket sales frequent failures and more recently, the ComiXology and Marvel freebie giveaway (to be blogged at a later date)! I'm not sure the world has yet grasped the popularity of such events. We are so awesome, we crash the webs! With that said, I present you Star Trek Into Darkness, the 3rd official trailer. Obviously, I have moved my site and my 5 trillion posts have vanished. Do not fear! They are on the interwebs awaiting transfer to their new home!
I know you have clicked on my site more than a few times (I know things) and found only error ridden webpages of nothingness for a while. I appreciate that you still come back daily to see where the hell everything went. You give me warm fuzzies and I use those to warm my coffee while I try to look busy. My cape has been dry cleaned, my mask has new Google lenses installed (clearly so I can stare at your butt without you noticing) and I am ready for business..... almost. Happy Thanksgiving!
Merry Christmas! Happy New Year 2013! Happy Valentines Day! Happy Saint Patricks Day! Happy Everything-In-Between that I left out! I'm late, I know. It's better late than never! Let's get to it! Countrywide Comic Con 2013 costumes and cosplay are among us! So far, I think it's safe to say I have 3 very simple costumes prepared for a few Comic Cons this year and a few surprises. ...I'll never tell... 1) Clockwork Orange! (never worn) 2) Doctor Who! 11th Doc! Yes, The Doctor, not a female character. (never worn) 3) 60s Minidress Redshirt from the one and only Star Trek! I've worn it on previous occasions, but never at a con! I also have cosplays of the times past but I'm going for comfort this year! I'm also going for the more modest approach. For instance I was Alice from Resident Evil at San Diego Comiccon 2011 and I spent the day pulling down, pulling up, pinning myself together, adjusting everything and carrying a lot of weapons. People stopped for photos and I want this year to be chill and less attention grabbing. All of these things combined made for a pretty miserable day! My only tip: test out your cosplay folks! All three will be very girlyfied because I pretty much own everything already. This fact made it fairly easy to decide on these costumes/cosplays. For those seeking easy, comfortable and cheap, cheap, cheap costumes, Clockwork Orange and Doctor Who can easily be bought at a thrift store! Currently I am missing the 11th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver, but I'm sure it's in my future! Bonus: I have a few things I want to "screw" with alien technology. But hey, who doesn't? See what I did there? I'll talk to you soon my friends! I've missed you! LL&P! |
